A quick update: I have had a rather full life recently and stopped prioritising this blog. Things are now settling and I intend to return to a regular posting schedule.

For those interested, we went on a long overdue long overseas holiday. It was sufficiently long that we decided to end our lease and find a new place on return. We returned in January and were hit by the Sydney rental crisis. It took three months of going to inspections during lunch or after work, with a big inspection day on Saturdays, plus countless applications before we were accepted for something (without offering above the asking rent).1 This turmoil made it difficult to have a regular schedule, and I had to be selective about which extra-curricular activities I maintained and which went on the back-burner.

Thankfully, we are now moved in, and have mostly finished unpacking and setting up.2 With that comes a return to routines, and thus this blog.

  1. The market is crazy. Places are being rented before being shown for inspection. I feel very lucky to have got something good, and only feel like we’re overpaying a bit.

  2. Going from a two bedroom house to one bedroom apartment included a bit of downsizing.
